Parent 2 Parent Community is a non-profit member-based organization located in Sherwood Park, Alberta.

Our members meet twice per month throughout the school year, and casually over the summer months at local parks or another member’s home. Meetings either feature a topic of discussion or a guest speaker. Members get to meet other parents from the area, and children have the opportunity to meet new friends in the childcare rooms, staffed by qualified caregivers.

We are an inclusive group, welcoming of all parents (including dads!). If you have a child in your care and would like to meet others in a friendly and supportive environment, we would love to meet you!

Our organization was created in 1979 by a group of local mothers who wanted to come together to socialize and learn from one another, while strengthening their confidence as parents and supporting their choice to “stay at home” with their children. They called the group Home by Choice.

Despite the original members sharing the title of “stay-at-home mom,” the group has warmly welcomed parents who work, fathers, and foster parents, from diverse backgrounds and with personal stories and experiences as unique as their children. In 2019, our organization—in its 40th year—wanted to acknowledge this diversity by changing our name. We became Parent 2 Parent, a name reflecting our inclusivity, as well as the support we continue to provide to each other and to our community.
